if i was to do it on the cheap (i.e yha, camping e.t.c) after buying equipment.is only a pipe dream at present.would like to attempt it sometime in the next couple of years though/do not currently have the fitness (would like to cycle both ways round in one big excursion/as much off road as possible). just a ball park figure really (was thinking something like £1000 would be a decent amount to keep me going/if i was careful)thanks 🙂

I've just done it for under a grand.

We spent a little over £850 each just doing it one way. Included within this was £150 on train tickets. We predominately stayed in B&Bs so could have probably saved £75 if we'd always gone for hostels. Half the money we spent was on booze and food, you will need to eat a lot but you won't need to go out for 3 course meals like we did on a few occasions.

Also, don't worry about your fitness... it's not that tough and you will defintiely be ok. 🙂

The CTC have routes that stop in hostels every night. Kept the cost well down for us. Much easier than camping too. After that it's just food and trains you need to worry about. Easily less than a grand.

just aim to do it in a oner, 3 days should be sufficient i think and spent nothing ( apart from £50 on food )
