[Closed] How much for a half decent Mmm Bop build?

For some time I've fancied building up a bike and with Mmm Bops cheap as chips at the moment my credit card is getting excited.

Without going second hand what have people spent on this kind of build? I know I could go onto Wiggle and CR and add some stuff up, but I just wanted a ball park figure for a reliable build that will give me a good work horse hardtail to fit in between my 6" full susser and my fully rigid XC bike. It may even get to live at the in-laws in Spain so reasonably mountain proof too.

Merlin have a full SLX Groupset & Wheels for under £400, and there are some good deals around on forks..

I reckon you could do it under £1k

I did a Blue Pig for under a grand about £800 but being a fatty i bought heavy duty wheels which bump the price up. They were a steal though at £150 from SS, Spank Spikes, I already had a chain set, the stuff like derailleurs and brakes are what bump the price up depending on how posh you want to go and how long your willing to wait to finish the build. Plenty of bargains on the bay and STW classifieds Merlin Cycles are also really good.

Whatever you decide enjoy the build

Nice

I don't "need" a new bike but I feel the need to build one from scratch, and this Mmm Bop seems too good a price to miss out on. Not sure I like the big fat head tube, but I can live with it 😀
