Hi,

Quick piece of advice please. Looking for some new forks for my Meta 666 build. Trying to do it on the cheap but with good kit. Local bike shop are offering me some 08 Marzocchi 55's completely refurbished with 09 inners for £400.

I thought it was a bit high as JE James have a new pair of Lyriks for under £500. What do you think? What would be a good price?

avoid! get the lyriks.

From 07 marzocchi have had loads of problems, especially with any air travel adjust forks. This didn't get fixed in 08, wouldn't hold too much hope for 09.

I wouldnt buy any 55's secondhand. Ive read alot that they are absolutely the nuts when working. If you buy new you get the longer warranty- you will need it.

Buy secondhand. NO, funnily alot of 55's say 'just serviced' on their ads as well!! ;o)

Avoid.

As above, even my Z1 FR anniversaries (07) had a new cartridge fitted. Mazz had $15m in debts - sold up and all production was moved from Italy to Far east- alot of termoil and probably alot of angry Italian workers not bothered about quality and start up/teething problems.

I have some 55ATA 2's on my current steed and, like all the others they seized up and had to go back to the factory. They've been awesome since I got them back about 3 months ago, so if they were a good deal I'd take another pair, as long as they had the new bits on them...

Thanks for the feedback, if I can't get them for a really good price I'll definately go for the Lyriks.

Are the coil Lyriks best?????
