I'm just in the process of building a 9 speed MTB and was wandering how important is it to have a BB mounted chain device/guide?
I am going to be using one of these chainsets if that helps?

Worth doing, bb mounted or seat tube mounted... Having your chain drop is dangerous.
Using a ss specific chainring helps keep the chain on.
