I need a gold rated lock for bike insurance purposes and my current Abus mini d doesn't fit the bill.

Does anyone have the Onguard Pitbull Mini DT 8008? Is it big enough to lock a frame to a Sheffield type bike stand?

Cheers
Dan

It will probably lock a seat stay to a Sheffield stand but ideally you would want it through the wheel too. I use one of these OnGuard Brute to go through both seat stays and a Sheffield frame.

Hmm, my current Abus 410 mini d will do top tube to a stand and then I put a cable through the wheels.
It's for my Sunday best bike so rarely gets left unattended when out and about but need something to take with me multiday trips to satisfy the insurance. Ideally want as small as possible to avoid carrying anything too heavy (accepting that good locks will be heavy)

I lock my Voltage with one in my garage and it goes through the rear triangle (and around the down tube) then through the grill of an oil heater (standard size) so it should be good for a bike stand

The oil stands used just to create an extra obstacle

Don't know about that one but I have 2 of their Brutes- it's one class up basically at 16mm, also sold secure gold and seems really good. I hate mucking about with small locks so I got the long shackle one but tbh the standard one would probably be fine too. Can't say I've tested it but it feels bombproof and tests well, and just seems crazy value. They do corrode a bit faster than my old Kryptonite though

Update time

Took a punt on one and it arrived today. I can report it's about the same size as my Abus mini d so should be about right for locking a top tube/seat tube to a Sheffield stand. It won't lock much else and you might struggle to lock it to any other street furniture but it's just what I was after.

Makesure you oil the bolts and lock mechanism, loads of reviews online of people complaining that their ongaurd lock seized and won't release. I have two and so far so good but don't want to ever find it needs cutting for the sake of some regular tlc.

Good point, cheers. I says WD40 but I presume something like gt85 would be better
