So I want a long sleeved UV resistant top with front zip, back pockets and no bland colours for riding in 30+degrees. Not super skinny fit though I appreciate I can just size up. Any hot country dwellers or tourers got a recommendation that will be better than a Google search. Thanks.
Ground Effect Rock Lobster?ย I don't have one but I'm a big fan of GE and have quite a few items from them.
I reccomend getting a base layer, tech version of a string vest. Decathlon do a reasonable budget option, albion do a nice non-budget option. There must be a few moreย
I know Cyclogy do long sleeve summer jerseys but I've never tried one. I've got some sun sleeves that I use in the summer, I find them really good, like arm warmers for hot weather and like arm warmers really versatileย

Castelli do some fine mesh ones, also Brynje of Norway.
Personally I'd just wear a loose, lightweight button-up shirt, probably some sort of light poly-cotton fabric from a technical outdoor brand and carry stuff on the bike rather than in pockets. I'm not overly convinced by string vest-type baselayers in really hot conditions, nicer than conventional Lycra against the skin, but still traps insulating air unless vented. Polartec does a baselayer fabric called Delta, which is fantastic for wicking, breathing and drying fast, but it's not used much, so hard to find.ย

Ground Effect Rock Lobster.ย
They also do the Solaris, SPF50+ with a hood but no back pockets.ย
If you want to look like a motocross rider then Fox Flexair stuff is decent. It's what I use for 35-40 degree rides here in Madrid, paired with some bib tights.
I've found that when it gets super hot that wearing a buff soaked (dripping) in water around my neck really helps. This, coupled with a loose fitting open necked shirt (as above) certainly eases things.
Sun Sleeves are the usual thing here in Aus for keeping the sun off.ย ย

Also add a level of flexibility that a long sleeved jersey may not have.

For me all the Ground Effect gear is too warm for summer use here in Victoria. It is my first choice for the winter though.ย

I've been using a long sleeved decathlon top for the last couple of summers. Very thin material that lets air through and therefore also wicks moisture out. High SPF and long zip. Can't remember it's name, but I'd have a look through their offerings.ย
Nike dri- fit long sleeve runningย top. Very breathable but still enough SPF protection. I use a bright orange version for touring in south west USA.ย

Edit, sorry, just remembered you want pockets. I use a waistpack.
Thanks for the replies but of googling up on your answers later.
What about those lightweight shirts you get, like this kind of thing:

When it's properly hot I'm not sure typical base layers work that well, you need sweat to do what sweat's meant to do. I've worn similar shirt in Africa although I wasn't MTBing.
Main contender at moment is Patagonia sun shirt similar to the above thanks
I'll second using "arm warmers" with a normal Summer jersey.
I use long-sleeve jerseys from Tactic made in Gerona but their UK website doesn't have them on it. ๐ Well it does but not for sale:

A full length zip is nice
Pearl Izumi Quest - I've the short sleeve version X2 and they are my go to in hot weather.ย

I also really rate my Vaude non-zip, no pocket mTB top, and they do a zipped touring version called the Kuro
