How do I get the end caps off from my XC front hub? Do I just pull them?
Yes! may seem stiff but tthey just pull off!
The service instructions say use two flat bladed screwdrivers with a rag to prise it off. I found two pedros tyre levers much better as they are wider so don't gouge the alloy.
Dr and Spooky - After taking off the end caps Im not so sure I have an XC.. From looking at the tec. docs. on Hopes website it has similar internals to a pro III?! Instead of pulling the end caps off you use 2x 5mm allen keys and unscrew the ends. That looks like this.

That'll be a Bulb or a Fatso hub then, I guess. To remove the bearings you need to support the hub on it's flange and drift them out from the other side with a solid length of rod(or something similar). You'll need to shift the spacer sleeve between the bearings across to get the drift behind them.
