So, put these brakes on my build 4 yrs ago and not hammered to death, but have done Fort Bill and many hours of riding - thought the original pads were ready (actually still had a couple of mm left)
Replaced with Clarks and Fibrax sintered pads.
Bite is great, but after continued braking I'm getting some drag. Should I go back to organic, or do I just need a bleed? Obviously something getting hot, but just curious as to where the problem lies.
Cheers!
I run the same brakes with sintered pads.
The problem is you cycle so little the pads lasted four years. Low mileage/long lasting pads mean there is enough time for corrosion etc to build up on exposed slave piston surfaces, so when you do eventually replace the pads and push the pistons back in they are sticky.
I suggest v-brakes, or even better a Carrera road bike ๐

Pistons pushed back really easy (compared to Avids I had on my '06 Enduro). When the brakes cool, the drag stops.
Had a couple of years where my riding was very on/off, but getting some good miles in at the moment.
new fluid and bleed imo
Maybe too much fluid in your brakes (I'm serious) and when it heats up and expands, it could be pushing the pads out a bit more.
Ffs, what's people's obsession with bleeding brakes. Try a set of hope sintered again & give the pistons a clean
Sounds like old fluid that's absorbed some moisture, (dot brake fluid is hygroscopic, ie' it absorbs moisture from the atmosphere) when they heat up the fluid expands and causes rub, when it cools they retract and stop rubbing,
Give em a bleed...
Also if you bleed brakes without pushing the pistons back it overfills the system and the pistons won't push back flush when you fit new pads, if that's the case you need to open the bleed nipple while you push the pistons back to release the excess fluid..
