the non drive side keeps working loose - very loose! but the bolts are quite soft and i am unable to do them up tight enough!!
new bolts on order - what sort or torque should i be looking at??

surely for a hub the non drive side should have a reverse thread like the left side pedal to stop this happening? anyone else experienced this issue?

its these bolts with

I'll often tighten mine just using my little Topeak mini allen-key set. It can't be more than 50mm long so I'm hardly getting any leverage and I've never had them come loose in about a year.

Does sound odd. I'm not sure what they are made from, but if they are stainless you try swapping for high tensile and see if it makes any difference. High tensile will stretch slightly compared to stainless and should provide a slightly more secure hold.

Motorbike disc bolts are usually high tensile for this reason.

I use a normal 'long' allen key on mine and it has stayed tight. The bolts do seem to be made from cheese though. A little smear of grease between the back of the bolt head and the spiky washers allows the bolts to be done up tighter without rounding out the head.

I also had the bolt on one side come loose (can't remember which side mind) when the hub was new but after a while the bolts seemed to bed in maybe to the hub? ... or more likely the washers bite into the frame a little ... maybe they just got a load of dirt and grease etc in them? who knows but it doesn't come loose any more

just get hex head bolts and tighten.

Likely to be braking that's causing it. Is the bolt snug in the dropout?

I had this as well, just give the dropouts and washers a good cleaning to get off any grease, and I got some hex head bolts so I can tighten them up more. All sorted now!

You've got the washer the right way round haven't you...?
Never had a problem with mine, even bolt the kids trailer on from time to time.

Mine does the same. Grease under the bolt head fixed it.

You will not get the precessional loosening like pedals I would have thought - tho possible from braking over bumps a la front QR loosening.

Get them really clean and use star washers under the bolts to bite into the dropout

Why clean TJ, what about greasing?

you chaps with the bolt up kit, have you noticed any more stiffness/improvement on the back end over a Q/R?

Clean under the bolt heads and no grease to increase friction and stop them slipping
