Trying to get the drive side spacer off,
Its proper stuck, been in the vice and even down to the local bike shop and its still wont come off
The non drive side just pulls of by hand or pliers with no fuss at all

Could I get the rotor body/freehub off and then tap it out that way ??

Any Ideas boys n girls ??

Cheers

Andy

Its probably the O ring in the spacer thats sticking. Try squirting some lube down between the spacer and the axle and leave it for a bit.

I use 2 plastic tyre levers, one at each side under the lip on the spacer to move it, once its moved enough the freehub should moce and then I get the levers between the free hub and hub body to finish the job.

Its off !!

Thanks for the help it took one more session in a vice at another bike shop to get it off

Looked like it was the O ring that was the prob and it was also bone dry under the spacer so was also corroded on.

Time to have a go at getting the bearings out now

Cheers

Andy

heat the hub to get teh bearings out - tie a coth round it and pour boiling water over it - it helps. Freeze the new bearings as well.

It will pull off when you pull the freehub off. Take the cassette off then reinstall the three/four largest rings (however many there are on the spider and the lock ring. That will give you enough leverage to pull the whole lot off at once. Mind the pawls and springs don't go down the sink or something though

I think this is pretty common, as above , put the cassette back on then knock it off from behind. The spacer seems to corrode onto the axle, give the axle a rub with wire wool and it will come off fine next time.

To get mine off the drive side spacer was put in a vice and then the wheel was used to rock it from side and it soon came off....the bike shop that failed to get it off did pop a bit off WD40 on to so that may have helped a bit

still not got around to stripping it all down yet ๐Ÿ™
