Can I build a pair of disk equipped road wheels using a hope XC and Hope bulb hub from a set of mtb wheels i have in the shed?
Fairly embarrassing but as far as road stuff goes i haven't got a bloody clue.
If so can anyone recommend rims at the lower end of the pricing spectrum that are considered non anchor like in weight?
Cheers in advance
I use Hope xc hubs laced to Pacenti CL25's on my road bike with either 25 or30mm tyres. Fine. Going to swap the rear to a newer Hope to allow 11 speeds.
Magic open sport £30 475gm
If it's an old hope rear hub it won't work with 11 speed road. So you'll need a Pro2 11 speed freewheel. Only fits Pro2 I think, so if you don't have one of those and want to run 11 speed you can't.
No worries, planning on sticking with the 10 speed Tiagra on my current frame when i shift over.
Is it a 135mm spaced frame? Road bikes are normally 130mm. Though it's not necessarily a dealbreaker...
Stan Iron Cross tubeless rims on my tourer. If it's pure road then I'd suggest getting some cheap Shimano Ultegra wheels for speed
Most disc cross frames are 135mm now. If yours isn't stretching the frame or shaving 2.5mm off each end cap isn't a big deal.
Hope Xc front and bulb Ti on the rear for me:-)
Yep, you should be fine. Plenty of cheap rims available ( http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/rims/mtb-rims?f=4294957821&sort=pricelow).
I'd recommend the TN719 - should be reasonably light, durable and perfect for 28mm-ish tyres.
Cheers Mike
Suppose it would be rude to not send the build buiness your way if you are able to fit it in?
Hi Scandal,
Depending on hole count I've a set of new Pacenti rims that would work great.
