I've got a set of the above wheels bought early 2015. I've been running 10 speed but not sure if they'll take 11 speed. I wasn't using a spacer for the 10 speed shimNo cassette and there didn't seem to be a lot of extra space when I removed it. Anyone know? Is the profile of an 11 speed cassette the same as 10 speed given narrower sprockets?
From Hope's website
With XTR groupsets now following road groupsets to 11 speed there has been some confusion over upgrade options and compatibility on older wheels and hubs. Basically, unlike road groupsets, the new XTR cassette is the same length as the earlier 10 speed cassettes. Therefore if you have an existing 10 speed hub or wheel you can install the 11 speed XTR cassette without alteration.
The 11th/largest cog on a Shimano 11-speed cassette is offset inwards so although the cassette is wider, it takes up no more room on the freehub.
Fantastic. Thanks!
If is an EVO hub you can fit an XD driver to use the SRAM 11 speed groupsets (to get the 10t sprocket if important to you) or go with standard freehub for Shimano.
With non EVO it's Shimano 11 speed only as I don't think Hope make an XD driver for those.
You can make an original pro II into an evo easily
And you can't fit an 11 speed road cassette to either without a new freehub body.
