Morning all,
Just taken delivery of a 'new to me' Orange Stage 5 frame. Very excited. Want to build up ASAP but it comes with a Hope Headset (in condition etc so don't want to change) but sadly no crown race.
And it looks like there is a shortage of 1.5 Hope Crown Races on the internet that can deliver promptly. Really keen to build up this weekend. Anyone know if there is an alternative one that will fit? Or know of somewhere where I can get one next day delivery?

As it happens, I do have a spare Chris King crown race so if anyone knows whether that would work, that would be really helpful!
I don't think the CK one will sadly, I've just done similar to you, and I had both a hope and a CK race, took me a while to work out which was which but the CK never looked right
IME a lot of crown races are compatible to an extent - certainly for short-term use. E.g. the bearing faces are fine but it might not seal perfectly with the lower cup or whatever so at risk of water ingress over time. Longer term I'd probably try and get the right one, though, especially for an expensive (ish) headset.
I suspect your LBS might have a few random ones out back?
As above, might well work but offer reduced sealing. Just offer up the CK one to the bearing and see if it sits correctly
