"Available immediately" it says here.

It's a good chunk heavier than XTR for similar money. Bit disappointing.

I see that this morning and wasn't that impressed to fair, good that it's made in the UK but other than that "I'm out" as they say.

Can't see those graphics holding out very long against heel scuffs.

Silver one would have been on my radar, but for the moeny, and with XTR, XX1 and X01 all cheaper... think it may have missed it's time.

I think they look nice, but at that price there needs to be some benefits over other offerings..
It's not light, it's probably adequately strong (aren't they all?) so I guess you're paying for the name/bling/uk manufacturing cost.

Heavier and a fair whack more expensive than the Turbine Cinch. No mention of BB prices either and they don't seem to be included? Looks tidy though and has 165 option which is missing from the Race Face.

wow, 165mm, a whole whopping centimetre shorter than the longest on offer.

that's nearly enough to start making a difference.

Expanding spline is a nice idea but I still think Shimano have the best interface.

£265 isn't that much. It's much less than XTR RRP.
XT weight
UK made
Looks will appeal to some (not me).

I think they'll do ok with it tbh.

I use Hope stuff. Both my bikes have plenty on Hope kit on board. I like to support a UK company.

But they do seem to have gotten a bit giddy with the lazer etcher recently. Too much not quite grey / not quite white graphics.

£266.99 is CRC's RRP for the XTR 1x crank - and they sell them at £213

Lighter isn't it? (by about 10g)

Oh yeah - forgot they did a single - blimey the price difference between single and double is pretty hefty!

I assumed (or maybe read) that that's exactly why they are there - it doesn't show scuffs. Is it white paint, or 'pre-worn' etched to aluminium? 🙂

Looks good to me.

Costs a bit more than a product from the Far East, weighs a bit more, should be better but existing products are pretty much fit and forget these days - so far, so Hope but I still want one.

I think they've learned from Middleburn that no, there doesn't 😆

Not that heavy either are they? Lighter than XX1. XTR is 563g for cranks/axle only.

£260 is the retail price without chain ring, that's another £90, can't find the weight, but seems these are XTR weight?

I'd love to build up a UK made Steel frame with all hope stuff..
- Wheelset
- Headset
- Head dr
- headset spacers
- Stem
- Bars (if you can find a rare set)
- Grips
- Bard ends
- Cranks
- Chainring
- Bash
- BB
- Seatclamp
- Seatpost
- Discs brake set

What don't Hope sell?
- Tyres
- Forks
- Saddle
- Frame
- Dropper post
- Chain
- Rear mech
- Shifter
- Cables

It would probably cost a fortune, weigh more than the competitors but I think it would look lovely and you'd support a UK company and be covered by the great customer service.

I'll leave that idea for the bonus/lottery win.

Like the comment about the US price. Now they know how we usually feel when we see the UK and US prices!

Pinkbike says for the Turbine "Weight: 626g (175mm cranks with 32t direct mount ring)" so barely anything in it.

Not that heavy either are they? Lighter than XX1. XTR is 563g for cranks/axle only.

XTR arms 526 - Hope quoting 641 for arms, axle and spiderless ring. XTR plus a 40-50g NW ring still considerably lighter than the spiderless Hope setup (and spiderless setup will be a higher cost option, most liekly)

[img] [/img]

XX1 is 565 with standard ring - could go lighter again with Spiderless ring

I take it back, didn't notice that weights were including BB.

XTR arms 526

They're M980 arms, although one assumes M9000s are lighter. CRC says:

Average weight 563g (without BB)

I assumed that was ex chain ring, but perhaps not, as a double is 601g with rings.

I'd very quickly disregard weight if offered the choice of the Hopes or the XTR 9000s though - the Shimanos are HIDEOUS.

All teh above seem to be heavier than my old M970s. Though they obviously don't do spiderless

Not many questions regarding the BB that is ONLY compatible with this crankset. 30mm spline sounds like press fit nonsense to me.

I thought that as well.

They'll sell well cause there Hope and they have plenty of fanbois. I like Hope but these aren't great to look at, pretty expensive and a bit portly, so I'm out!

E13 did a 30mm spindle crankset, maybe their BB will work?

I'd think the obvious benefit is that they'll last forever like all hope products, you'd certainly get a better warranty than with Shimano...

My XT cranks have been on 4 bikes and are about 6 years old, and now need the bolts tightened right up so the plastic shim doesn't move at all, and I'm sure they have a very slight "bend" in them (I can feel it when I ride other bikes - I say bend, but it's more likely the splines wearing). The splines do look a little crushed, but I'd guess they'll be ok for a few more years yet.

If hope have done it right, they have removed this issue at least. I'd still buy them over XTR to be honest, and we'll have to see how much that RRP drops on CRC.

Raceface, E13 and hope all on 30mm, plus BB30 also

Not sure any of them are cross compatible.

And none of them will fit into a Trek with BB90/95 shell.

Proper BB30 is narrower than the others, but otherwise, they should be.

I see Hope are doing a double spider (strokes chin...)

I always thought that although Hope brakes don't really offer any real world performance benefits over many other cheaper sets they are simply much nicer to own. More then just a functional item and something that you enjoy owning. That alone is worth the extra cost IMO.

I imagine the crankset will be the same so I'm very interested even if there's a good chance I won't be able to afford them.

Marketing manager should be getting his bonus this year then...

They are nice, if I had a stupid amount of money then they would look very good on my bike.

But just bought a new replacement XT crankset for just £80 from crc which is bloody super and all I will ever need.

Im sure they'll sell like hotcakes.

I like it. I'd really like the chain device combo. But, as darrenspink says, you can get 3 XT cranks or 4 Zee for the same money.
It's nice, but not that nice.

Shimano really need to put their prices up so that I can justify posh kit moar easily!

They need to produce a reliable BB to go with this chainset, I've been disappointed by the durability of every 30mm BB I've used

What's being well made got to do with marketing? My Deore brakes are great but Hope's are nicer to own. It's nice to have nice things rather then simply functional things.

Eh. If they're typical hope they'll be fairly unreliable in predictable and quickly well known ways, but Hope will fix them for you (but never fix the underlying issues)
