Any reason not to buy a set of heavily discounted hope evo fatbike cranks and fit a new standard length spindle? By my calculations should still be a significant saving. Does anyone know if the self extracting bolt is present on both cranks... i.e is it easy to get the spindle off ?

You'll need to look at the instructions on the hope website. You'll also probably need the tool too.

I don't think both sides have a self extractor, there's a different cap sold for non drive
Whether you can use the drive side bits to take off the other side I'm not sure

At the end you'll still have Hope cranks, though.
