[#9862652]

hello,

my hope v4 calipers seem to be more or less stuck "on" at the mo, i'm assuming the pistons need lubing... but i have no silicone lube, will normal grease suffice/be ok?

as is always the case i found this out too late and i go away at lunch time tomorrow, if grease is no good then i'll have to run around like a blue bottomed fly in the morning... but if it is ok, then i can do them now! (in the cold garage, brrr)

thanks all

no - normal grease will ruin the seals.ย  Red rubber grease or a bit of brake fluid will do

For a quick fix -

push a single piston out a bit whilst holding the rest in place

rub a little brake fluid on it with an ear bud/Cotton bud

push piston back and pump back out again a few times

repeat for each piston

clean calliper

fit wheel and re centre calliper

set Pistons as per Hope's instructions

hope that helps

Carlos

i tend to just d o the brake fluid thing

I clamp one caliper - pliers will do lined with a rag to avoid marks- and then pull the lever that way you can extend just one side - free it up and lube it then repeat for the other side

Repeat till both move at same rate when you pull lever.

Pads out for this
