I've just fitted a Hope ss bottom bracket and ther's slight lateral or in and out movement 0.5- 1mm i think. Is this normal (ok) or should i fit an extra shim. It's on a SC Heckler 73mm bb and i've fitted 1 spacer. Thanks for the info in advance.

Nope not normal at all.
My cotic has a 73mm bb, and i had to use 3 spacers. That was with a shimano bottom bracket, but i would of thought Hope ones follow the same principle. You will defo need another spacer in there, if its moving at all.

68mm bottom bracket uses 3x 3mm spacers = 79mm overall. A 73 mm bracket uses 2 spacers = 79mm

It's a Race face chainset

Doh - you were right. I've got a raceface chainset and I've dug out the instructions - 1x 2.5mm spacer on the driveside only for 73mm BB

Yea that's what i've done and there's lateral play, i'm thinking about putting a spacer in the non-drive side as well.

Depends on what type of raceface you have, but some came with white plastic shims on the axle for adjustment.I'd be wary of putting in an extra 2.5mm spacer as you have a fixed axle length relying on an exact width BB shell to avoid preloading and destoying the bearings.

I had the same issue. I got hold of an additional thinner BB spacer (1mm I think it was) and that cured it.

Yea, I put a 2.5mm spacer on the non drive side as well which has cured the movement but i'm thinking the same and noticed on the crc website they advertise Raceface crank spacers. I think i'll pop into my lbs tomorrow and see if they've got any.
