I have got the Maxle (with drop outs) and a 12mm axle conversion for my rear Hope II's. Any useful tips on how to actually get the original axle out and new one in? I couldnt find anything on the hope website. Thanks.

Follow the instructions for servicing them - it's a wee video on the Hope site. They recommend the use of some special tools.
