So, after a quick fruitless google, am I right in thinking that you can now no longer get suspension forks, like Revelations, Reba, Sektor, etc, in 1 and 1/8th straight steerer with 20mm maxle type axle?? That's a pigging pain if so, all my bikes run those forks and I'll be pea'd off if I can't replace forks when the time comes making my frame and wheels unusable!!
A friend is looking for some forks for his 2007 Stumpy so if anyone knows of some for sale in a shop online somewhere let me know? Thanks.

Got some Sketors from Merlin in that spec a while back for a mate, think Bike-Discount.de had the same ones, but yeah, dying breed.

they were the only 1 1/8" bolt through option for 29 recently (15mm though) great forks though.
Yeah 1 and 1/8 are getting pretty rare these days but there are still a few around.
Only 20mm forks still around with a straight steerer I can think of are the Marzocchi 55's

I'd to buy 15mm last month, but since I've Hope hub'd wheels no big problem.
But it was still hard to get a good deal on straight-steerer.

He's looking for 130 to 140mm travel, something light-ish as it's an xc bike 55's and lyriks might be a bit overkill on a stumpy, and he's not keen on used but that might be the only choice. Will have to keep looking. Also think his wheels are Mavic not Hope so not sure about converting to 15mm.
Annoying that I may not be able to get forks for my 2011 bike, they make stuff so obsolete so quickly - 20mm was perfect, don't know why we ended up with 15mm and can't say I notice any real difference in straight or tapered forks when riding (I know ... it's all about marketing and making you purchase new stuff). Just hope I can keep my existing stuff going on and on.
Actually, if 26in stuff is dead as we're constantly being brainwashed, where's all the cheap wheels, forks, frames and tyres, I'd like some 26in 2.2 black chili rubber queens for a fiver thanks, as their so rubbish?

i'm running a pair of 170mm marzocchi 55cr's on by bike with 140mm at the back. it rides pretty sweet and isnt that much of an overkill. i do have the option of dropping the front end down to 150mm if needed. the last fork i had on that bike was a 150mm travel fork and the geometry for the bike was spot on. a frame like the stumpy should still ride well with a 150mm fork so your friend might be pleasantly surprised.
What forks does he have currently? If the chassis is good then how about just upgrading the internals or getting it tuned?
I may have some 20mm Revs for sale shortly in 1 1/8 format, let me know if interested.
I think the old stumpys got 130mm rear travel, he's got some old pikes in it at 140mm, didn't say if they were fubar or just wanting something different, I'll find out, if they are all good he might just as well keep running those, although I reckon rev's would be good if he's looking, I'll find out what he thinks.
Not tried the old Pikes before but have read many reports that is stiffer but heavier than Revelation. But that's expected as the Pike is intended to be used in more demanding situations than a Revelation.
Depends on what the main aim of the change is. If he wants to drop some weight a new fork might be the best choice. If he just wants better damping then I'd rather just send the fork of to a suspension specialist and let them work their magic.
