I recently bought a new old stock pair of rock shox RTL ti 100mm forks and have noticed after 2 rides that there is what seems to be oil residue on the gold stanchions . I'm assuming they might have leaking seals ? From being sat for a long time . Are they easy/ costly to get serviced .they feel and work great but I don't want to damage anything by ignoring the issue .
There should be a small amount of 15wt oil in both lowers - this lubricates the seals and I don't think a bit of oil misting on the stanchions is anything to worry about. In fact the RS forks are notorious for coming out of the factory with too little oil I the lowers. You will need to do a lower oil service fairly regularly to make sure everything stays lubricated - if you let it dry out you can end up with stanchion wear. RS forks are easy to self service and there are plenty of online videos to walk you through.
