Hi,

I can service pretty much everything on my bike, but I have no idea about the rear shock bushings/eyelets or whatever they are called??

I've got about 1-2mm of play when I lift the saddle and I presume it is these that need replacing as all the frame bearings are only about 10 rides old (I can also actually see movement in the parts that go into the shaft of the shock).

Can someone let me know what I need to buy to fix this? Do I need new metal spacer things as well as a new bushing?

Thanks,
J

Sounds like the bushing and/or spacers are worn. Might be a good idea to replace both. I wouldn't try and push the bushing out unless you have the proper tool for the job.

You could consider replacing the bushing and spacers with an enduro needle bearing as they're smoother.

hmmm anyway to tell if spacers are worn? If i stick a new bushing in and feel no movement does that mean they will be fine?

A visual inspection should tell if the 'top hat' spacers are worn. Also, I think they should be a light press fit into the new bushing. If they slide in easily or just fall in then likely they are a bit worn. Replacements available in a few places but I use TF Tuned.

ok cheers folks. i might just buy a replacement bushing first to test if the spacers are worn. If they are i think i will get one of the heavy duty mount kits, sound like a good idea?

Sounds like a fair enough idea. Worst that will happen is slightly worn top hats will wear our your new bush a bit faster...
