Hi Guys, I was just about to order a Cannondale Trail 29er but have just found a Voodoo Bokor 29er and was wondering if anybody could sway me either way with your opinion, any help would be appreciated

I am having similar thoughts not much out there at this price level is there.

My LBS suggested this

http://www.gtbicycles.com/gbr/bikes/mountain/endurance/2011-karakoram-1-0-green

list at £799 but maybe able to get a deal on it.

has better wheels/fork etc than the others

Look at the On One Scandal frame and do your own build! A fantastic frame etc etc etc!

A Scandal build with a suspension fork will come in closer to £1000 with similar specs to above.

plus they have no stock in my size 😐

I'm 90% going to order the GT my LBS said they would get one in for me to see in the flesh as it would be the first 29er they have had in he said if it's not suitable, he'll put it on display.

I will then use it to see if I like 29er's and could use the parts etc to put to a donor frame at a later date but I will probably upgrade the parts as and when they wear out and or get damaged.

I do fancy having the ability to SingleSpeed a 29er but realistically where I live SingleSpeed is impractical plus I would get frustrated with pushing it all the time 😉

Lots of good seconds about?
Repaint and custom job would be a good idea?
I did that!
A geared and a S/S!

Stop teasing us then 😉

I have a 456 and I really like that but have an itch for a 29er but On One don't have the size I want Ggrrrrrrr

I think if I was building a frame it would be around this

http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=46085

looks great built up see here

http://www.tomac.com/bikes.php?year=2011&model=flint-29

bit scared to price a build up though 😉

Pete - If you're going to spend £400 on a 29er frame, there's only one 😉

Keep you eyes peeled on the classified and be patient - something good will come up. £799 is a good wedge to spend to find you might not like it. Buy second hand and if you change your mind, you'll most likely get back what you paid for it in the first place, or only drop 10's of pounds and not 100's.

I'm trying what IanB has suggested, but am struggling to find anything for a 6'3" guy...

As I normally ride SS road bikes, I'll take a SS with ridged fork or hardtail 29er with gears. Or anything in-between as long as its "cheap" as a 29er taster.

Is it me or are MTB expensive compared to road bikes?

JD.

P.S. First ever post so be gentle!
