I am at the end of my tether trying to decide what cranks to fit to my SS bike.
I think it has to be Middleburn with a square taper BB but what do you guys think????????????????

I was going to go exactly the same way, but in the end couldnt justify not using some 1997 XT square taper cranks that I already had with a nice salsa ring that are good for the job.

The choice to make about middleburn though is whether to go for an uno (and limit youself to 32 and 34) or a carrier and fit your own ring giving you a 36 option which is what I really need for my rohloff on the 29er.

When my XTs die, then it's middleburn.

will post a pic when picasaweb wakes up again.

I've used a Bonty ISIS chainset with a SKF bottom bracket for 2 years without issues. Cheap and chearful.

Errrrrrrrrrm main reason for the change is the constant failure of ISIS bb's
I want to make it sexier too 🙂

Middleburn Uno all the way if you want 32 or 34. Then if you decide to go geary you can just buy a new spider and rings and swap them out in five minutes.

ISIS BB's by SKF aren't sexy. They're more like this girl you never fancied but slept with regardless only to discover she gave head like a pro. They work and give you peace of mind (which sadly cannot be said about FSA, RF or Truvativ).

I have a set you can have for £40 posted. Remember - a drunk on the forum, that's me, tells no lies 🙂
