New Focus Jam2 headset lasted 2 wet rides! Bike shop have said they'll contact Focus but expect them to send the same cheap crap headset out again.

It seems that the upper part of the headset is a weird size being ZS56/28,6. Hope don't do one and despite Cane Creek making one it's not listed on Extra's site as a product the distribute in the UK.

My options seem to be either order on from Germany at 56 euros just for the upper or get a Superstar one. I'm not buying from SSC after past experiences.

Anyone know of any other options for weird sized headsets?

Cheers.

Isnt' that just standard, ZS56 and for the top race to fit a 1 and 1/8ths upper that tapered forks come with?

Pretty much any 1 1/8ths ZS56 will work, think they'll only have that and the 1.5" available anyway.

Lower cups in ZS56 are easy to come by but not upper. If you can direct me to any others than the ones I've mentioned above that'd be great as I can't find any for sale in the uk.

That's the one I've mentioned at 56 euro (including shipping)

Cheers though.

If it is just the bearings why not get some new decent ones?

Bearings are pressed into the cups. The headset has no seals what so ever so using any of it would be pointless. It’s cheap crap.

What the hell were they thinking making it zs56 top n bottom, surely a 49mm upper cup would suffice if you needed reach adjust or angled cups.
Way to f##k your customers over Focus.

Yeah! tell me about it, especially when they put such crap ones in to begin with as well.

One of my LBS asked Extra and they cant even get the cane creek one for me.

Unfortunately we can't get anything in a ZS56/28.6, not even the Cane Creek one.

I think you will either need to order a cane creek or acros one from europe or get over your superstar allergy. I think the owner has grown up a bit now so may be worth an email to check that the ZS56 upper assembly is 28.6.

I've ordered the cane creek from the Germans.

It was the same issue for my old cube, ZS56 top and bottom with tapered forks, must be a german thing, i just got a new bearing from wych to fit, as you say, no real sealing on the unit so lots of bearings required over the years!

Yeah its a shame I cant even change the bearing in the cup. I never understand why there are so many crap headsets? It must be peanuts between making a good one and a bad one.
