Just got my new Rockshox SID race fitted today.

Adjusted the pressures of the +ve and -ve chambers 150psi in each.

Forks felt pretty stiff.

Checked pressures and seems the -ve chamber is not holding pressure.

Is it me or are the forks junk and need sent back?

Cheers.

maybe, but before you send them back empty both air chambers. Put 150 in the pos, then 150 in the neg. See if they're okay. You can't check the air pressure on the neg without letting most of the air out as it's a really small air chamber.

150 sounds like a lot by the way. I'd take their pressure recommendations with a (large) pinch of salt.

seems the dust seal on the air side is also not staying put its sliding up and staying there as the fork compresses.

Not ****ing happy.

Anyone know if this might be an easy fix, local bike shop. Or a proper suspension specialist.

If so any ideas where i can take/send them.

New forks broken, send them back to the place you got them. They will send them to the distributor for fixing. My Rebas did this too. They are fine now.

Before sending them back: do you really mean "dust seal" or just a rubber o-ring?

As retro mentioned, when you re-attach the pump to check the pressure you end up releasing a lot a the air into the pump. If the fork is brand-new there will be stiction/a stiff feel, since it all needs bedding in (iirc, Rockshox recommend 20+ hrs riding for this). You can usually overcome some of this by using lower-than-recommended pressures (again, agree with retro that the recommended pressures aren't always correct anyway) to begin with, and perhaps slightly more in the -ve than the +ve (start with about 5psi greater).

Maybe try setting the rebound a little slower too. While it doesn't make the fork stiffer in reality, having rebound set too fast may be giving you the impression that the pressure is too high.

The fork is lossing all its air from the neg side.

Its the dust seal that is being pushed off the fork lower by the leaking air pressure.

If i leave the pump atttached it looses the air quick enought to watch the needle falling prety quickly.

I think the air seals are knacked, possibly dried out if the fork has been lying a while.

I will just buy a new seal kit and fit that see if it helps, probably chaeper and quicker than sending them back and trying to source another set of forks.
