Have a budget of around £350 (there is a little bit of leeway in this) to find a mtb which will mainly be used for Sunday afternoon rides to the local pub (off-road all the way) laps of the lake in our local park and marginally more strenuous rides on our annual trips to the Lake District and the occasional ride around clumber park.
So nothing too technical, thinking front suspension and disc brakes and not too heavy as it has to go on the roof rack.
So far have seen the Carrera vengeance in halfords and the specialized myka disc in the lbs (wasn't overly impressed with the spec on that one and won't be buying from them as a matter of principal, service was shocking!)
