I haven't bought a new bike for ages and am pretty out of touch. I've got quite a specific list of requirements but I'm befuddled by choice. I'd rather buy a complete bike than build one.
So, can you good folk help me find a rigid 29er (or a hardtail and suggestions of a pair of decent rigid forks) which has rack and mudguard mounts, gears (either dérailleur or hub gears), isn't stupidly heavy and costs less than a grand.
Moon on a stick?
This.. and flog the suss forks and buy some cromoto's..
That looks perfect and is a bargain but it's not in my size (I'm 5'11).
Genesis Fortitude.
You may struggle from a budget perspective with a complete bike unless you go with the SS and add gears at a later stage?
I built mine from a frame only for less than a £1000.
An old pic but you get the idea.
Comes with more mounts than I know what to do with 😳
Wow that does look a bargain ^^^
Hmm.
Could I add another bike ....
How about a Charge? and put some cromoto's on that..
Edit, apparently it comes with 10% of the purchase price worth of freebies so you could get some cromoto's free with the bike..
I'm after a rigid singlespeed; 29er or 26er if anyone has one for sale? Looking for cheaper than the OP though.
Apologies for the hijack 🙂
No mounts on the charge.
Motorman, I could be interested in your bike. Where in the country are you?
Anyone know anything about ktm bikes? This looks ok for the money
Singular
Charge Cooker Rigid 29, perfect for what you need, and a very upgradeable frame:
£450 from Cyclesurgery
On-One Inbred or Scandal surely?
How about a cannondale trail sl 3 29. 600 quid leaving you cash for gears.
Letmetalktomark - how tall are you and what size fortitude do you ride. Just seen this and am very tempted.
Cube LTD 29er comes in less than £1,000 and you'd get a set of rigid carbon forks for less than £100. Sell the forks that were on the bike and you'll be quids in.

E-mail in profile if your interested?
Austin - I hadn't seen your response until now.
I'm 6'2''/6'3''
That's a 20.5''
They aren't super long in the TT so plenty of potential for adjustment.
That's a cracking price for a complete build.
I'm selling a Genesis Fortitude Race 29er, 17.5", one month and 50 miles old, £650 collected.
