[Closed] help - knackered crank bolts

Can anyone offer any help, advice or experience as I'm getting a bit stuck with this one.

I've a pair of old race face cranks on my SS with a Ti Raceface ISIS BB - the crank has been creaking a bit so I tried to undo the crank bolts to tighten up the BB. Both of the crank bolts heads have now stripped after some hamfisted spannering and I can't get either off.

I did try using a slightly larger sized torx key on the drive side but this has just made an even bigger mess.

Any other tips or is drilling the only way forward now ?

Are they alu ones? If so, just carefully drill the buggers out.

Then buy some steel bolts to save chewing them up again.

Mind you having said that mine are alu and have lasted ages, removed and replaced cranks several times now. Maybe I just have mechanicking skilz dem. ๐Ÿ™‚

can you get in with a dremmel to cut a slot to use a screwdriver? Sounds like drilling might be your only option

Yep alloy ones - never had a problem before either - I'll try the dremmel idea but there's not a lot left to get a screw driver into on the drive side !
