[Closed] Help! I can't choose a new frame

Looking for something to replace a steel 456.

Things I like about the 456;

1) the geometry
2) the handling

Things I dislike;

1) It gets uncomfortable on long rides as it's so stiff
2) It's a bit 'dead' feeling

So I'm looking for;

1) lighter
2) similar handling/fork capabilities
3) a bit more springy/forgiving at the back.
4) possibility to singlespeed without tensioner (not a top priority I have another SS frame)

Frames I've considered;

1) Cotic Soul
2) Carbon 456
3) Decade Virsa
4) Pipedream Sirius
5) A Geneises Altitude Ti from the classifieds

and now I'm stuck. They all come in within budget but I really can't decide.

I'd like to make a decision and stop fretting soon.

mm, the 'Life' looks quite good.

Will be running a 130mm fork so don't need anything too burly and happy to sacrifice some directness for a bit more of a forgiving ride.

I've just upgraded to a Pipedream Sirius. A word of warning though; my LBS said a straight parts swap from my previous frame should be OK, a seatpost clamp, front mech, headset, BB and a set of forks later I'm still waiting for it...and the bill!

Sirius tread:

Cotic Soul gets my vote, just built a 2nd hand frame up and its left my five getting neglected. Fantastic ride quality, geometry feels right and as a bonus i think its easy on the eye too.

well, the piglet was an idea but that's 'upto 120mm' and I think the Blue Pig will be a bit brutal for my jeycore riding style.

I'd go for a decade versa or a XC120 but I am a Kinesis Fanboy ๐Ÿ˜‰

I had also been looking. Considered Pipedreams, carbon 456 and Virsa before settling on an mmmBop only to find they had all sold out. So at the last moment I swapped horses and have ordered a Soul and now that I have I am quite pleased that they had sold out of mmmBops.
Time will tell.

It's not exactly what you'd call forgiving at the back.

I love my Pipedream Sirius but the Kinesis is a good looking frame too Depending on how soon you want the frame, a Pipedream Scion might be worth a look; it's a trimmed down Sirius I believe, but the extra strengh of the Sirius might be a better match for a 456 replacement.

Forget the (sorry Craig!) BFe then - I've had that and the Soul.

If forgiveness is high on your agenda then the Soul has plenty. Look at getting a carbon or Ti post, too.

Another very happy Pipedream customer here. The Sirius is great for long days in the saddle.

wwaswas, I would get the Genesis titanium frame to replace the steel 456, it will be softer on the rear, another steel frame will feel the same as your 456, get titanium one.

have you had a shot of the 2010 vers... ???

I had a 456 SS before this and it is way more forgiving than that.. the Bfe is much more comfy than you would expect ๐Ÿ˜‰

Have had my carbon 456 for a month now, its comfy, light, mega snappy off the pedal and descends like a bloody lunatic. Was worried I would miss the comfort and plushness of my Zesty 314 but now quite happy to put it in the shed for winter.
