Morning STW hive mind!

Just done an air can service, and replaced all the seals. No visible wear or scoring on the can or shaft. Put it all back together and onto the bike, repressurised it to what it was before, and the shock barely compresses. When I really weight it so it does a bit, it rebounds really slowly.

The newly replaced suspension bearings aren’t binding, as they move freely when the shock is removed. I hadn’t reconnected the remote lockout, and had made sure the rebound and compression adjustment were fully open, clean and moving as they should. I gently let the air out the can, removed and reinstalled the air can, and then repressurised it. No change.

Finally I’ve removed the valve core to make sure it’s properly empty of air, and it’s still bloody hard to get the shock to compress.

I’m guessing it’s the damper playing up, but not quite sure how. Also how I could have affected it by working on the air can? Any thoughts before I sling it in the post to TF Tuned?

Edit. I misread the question. No clue here!

Did you inflate it at 50psi intervals and cycle it as you inflated it to balance the negative and positive chamber ?

That's what I was going to suggest but then read about it still barely compressing with no air in...

Yes, I did, having made that mistake before. It also won’t compress with the air can removed and no valve core in situ. Which is why I’m stumped.

Intending to consult a great TF Tuned oracle tomorrow.

If I remove the lockout from my shock, it locks it out. How does your lockout work at the bars? Mine is push to open, release to lock.

@petevanhalen (sorry, not quite sure how to reply to specific posts) - you absolute winner. That was it. I’d not broken my mate’s damper after all.

Happy days. Ta!
