There just doesn't seem to be enough room! I've tried deflecting the rotar this way and that but still no success. Does anyone have any tips for installing these buggers?

Have you pushed the pistons back in gently with blunt object?

instructions here:

OK, sorry, had to ask!

One time I had to realign the calliper when replacing pads- perhaps the calliper has moved against the mount? is it only one side that can't be pushed in?

I did this by loosening the calliper bolts a little, installed new pads, pumped the lever a couple of times to straighten calliper on mount ( after centering pistons!)then tighten mounting bolts

At teh moment, both sides. There just seems to be too much material and not enough space in the housing. I think I've ruined the new pads / spreader spring by striking with a hammer ๐Ÿ˜ณ

Glad they're on offer at CRC at the mo and I got a voucher for xmas.

So you think I may need to loosen off the caliper holding screws and manoeuvre it to get equal spacing either side of the rotor? Though there was no brake rub previously that would have suggested misalignment of the caliper...

are they OEM pads or Superstar/Disco/ANOther aftermarket? most of the aftermarket seem to be thicker than Avids and are a tight fit - one ride soon sorts them out. put the old pads back in and using a flat blade screwdriver lever the pistons back into the housing, they should be completely flush with the caliper. If that one happen then you may have to let a small amount of fluid out, have they been bled recently?

I normally have to file the paint of the back of the pads, only takes a few second with sandpaper.
