Looking for some info and wondering if the STW masses can help?
I've just picked up one of the DT Swiss spoke length wall charts and I can't work out the ERD measurements along the top. Is there a specific nipple length I need to use when measuring the ERD off the chart?
Using normal 12mm nipples gives me a reading that I know is far to big to be correct.
Any ideas?
For maximum thread contact on a 12mm nipple, the spoke should sit about flush with the base of the slot in the nipple head, so base your ERD on that point, and shorten spoke lengths accordingly for longer nipples(2mm shorter spoke for 2mm longer nipple).
Are you sure it uses ERD - that's the external diameter - surely you need to use internal one?
The nipples that come with the chart are very long and on little handles they are 16 or 18mm long not at work so can't measure one.
baznav73, sounds like I'm missing these then as the chart didn't come with any. If it's not too much bother could you check the length? I might be able to bodge something together if I can find the right lengths.

Length of the nipples for the chart are 21mm.
