Evenin' all

Looking for the STW collectives thoughts on a 'new' frame

I have an old (2007) Anthem. Great bike but my riding has changed and it no longer suits

My riding used to be mainly shortish blasts around the Chilterns. Nothing technical and for this the Anthem was (and remains) amongst the best

However, my riding is now more trail centre based and I find the Anthem just too steep and twitchy

Looking for something longer and slacker with more travel (120/130 mm) but something that still works on the Ridgeway. I don't need or want a big bike!

Probably go 27.5 so I'll need new wheels and fork too and total budget is about a £800 so obviously secondhand is the way to go. I'm quite capable of buying all the bits and assembling

In a perfect world it'd be a Bird Aeris 120 but too spendy

Obvious candidate would be a Trance. Also just missed a Transition Bandit 27.5 on eBay

What would your frame suggestions be?

Don't slaughter me - but I just don't fancy a Trek or Spesh

Bandit 29 us a perfectly good shout. However I'm 5'8 so likely be riding a medium if whatever I buy. Personal taste, I realise, but I just don't like S or M 29ers - too much wheel!

Maybe I should have gone higher in the Bandit 27.5 (it went for £390 and looked super clean)

Sorry for plugging my own stuff in your thread, but what about a Yeti 575?
(I happen to have one for sale )

Frame, fork and wheels for £800?

Quite do-able, but it may work out more economical to flog the Anthem and buy a complete s/h bike.

Slight change of plan

My head was well and truly turned by an Ibis Mojo HD 140. was always one of my favourite bikes

Frame bought, for a little over £400

26er I know (though manual says it'll run 27.5 - we'll see)

Now on the hunt for some 140/150 forks - probably Revs.
