My road/gravel bike has a 86 pressfit shell. I've fitted a PF Shimano BB72-41B BB86 bottom bracket and Sram Rival 22 crankset.
The BB fits fine but the crankset doesn't quiiiite fit flush up to the BB, not the whole length of the splines is used by the crank armย - I've given it a robustย tap (not harder) with a rubber mallet and screwed the crank arm on tight. It won't screw onย more.
There is a slight wobble / play in the crank arm (the bearings are fine).ย Does anyone know if the crankset isn't compatible, needs a spacer, whatever? thanks
SRAM/GXP crank spindle is 24/22mm vs HT2 24/24mm so you need to put a 'top hat' spacer on the inside of the drive-side bearing, then you may still have to play around with spacers/shims to take up any axial play as there's no way on the crank of taking up the play.
Don't have an sram/gxp - but above confirms what I know about it. The crank might need a spacer on the 22 mm side to fit to a standard Shimano BB.
thanks for confirming. I don't know what spacer I need and google isn't clarifying absolutely so I think I need to get this new GXP BB -ย new BB
Do SRAM cranks all use the wavey washers that fit on the axle between the BB and the chainset? They take up maybe 1.5 or 2 mm, could be missing one of those?
