My Met Kaos Ultimate is pretty perfect.

Apart from the fact that it's so expensive you want to avoid hitting your head at all costs.

Giro Animas gets my vote, well vented, light, looks cool 🙂

Like Druidh says, one that fits.

I find Bell helmets are the right shape for me but Giro aren't. Choose one that's comfy. I've been using a Bell Sweep for a couple of years and love it, and will probably get a Volt when I replace it.

I've got a Giro Havoc (£50 which I love) and a Giro Indicator which was about £20 from CRC. I'd love an Giro E2 or a MET Kaos, but I'm really not convinced that any of them will give me much more than my £20 Indicator!

there was a group test in some mag recently - might have been MBR where they said that blokes who ride expensive bikes buy expensive helmets, but they don't actually do much different than cheap helmets.

They all have to adhere to the same standards so safety wise I doubt there is much in it. Expensive helmets are generally lighter, better ventilated and look cooler though!

I used to have a cheap Bell helmet that was comfortable but not that well ventilated. So i bought a Met Veleno. It's much better ventilated, but is nowhere near as comfortable.

So, I'd recommend trying them on and finding one that you find comfortable, rather than buying online. I have recently tried on a Specialized, Bell & Giro helmet & all of them were more comfortable than my Met. Hmmm.
