Probably a daft question but I was wondering how well packaged/protected are bike helmets? I've seen plenty of good deals online but just wonder if it's possible for the helmet to get damaged in some non obvious way during transit etc.

Something I've occasionally wondered as well. However, how do you imagine they get to the shop before you buy one in store.

I think the other thing to consider is that they behave very differently without a head in them.

Just bought a couple of Giro helmets that arrived in a big cardboard box in their individual boxes and the spare space filled with brown paper.

Haven't bought a helmet from a shop for years, never had a problem.

I think you're over thinking this.

Any damage before it arrives = shops problem, not yours.

All the helmets I've bought have come in fancy cardboard boxes, and they get stored in them on the shelf as well in case they get knocked off
