[Closed] Helmet Light, Please Recommend Me a Torch

Yes, another light thread....

There are so many lights to choose from, i've trawled through the existing threads on here but i'm just getting nowhere.

I'm very new to night riding, i've just bought a 1000 Lumen DX light from Smudge on here for the bars. I'm just after a torch for the helmet now.

I want it to be wireless, i'm assuming no more than 500 Lumen, but most importantly it needs to be cheap and UK dispatched so i can use it and crack on with my riding asap.

Can someone please just recommend me a torch and fixing for my Giro Hex with UK dispatch?

I'm running the XPG version of this:

great little torch and fits perfectly in a Joystick helmet mount! not UK dispatch but very quick - mine took just over a week

I'll be having a really thorough trawl of the Internet tonight as I really want to order one tomorrow morning

If even been to their house for a demo of their stuff.

the torchys guys aren't showing anything equivalent to that yezl.
am thinking about getting one myself.

Bucko, you'll be ok for a couple of weeks with just the bar light. don't worry about ordering overseas. if you're really stuck i'll lend you a torch for your lid in the meantime.

note that for the yezl you'll also require batteries and charger.

These people might be worth a look - have run a couple of their L1D torches (nor replaced by LD10) over the last two winters and have been very impressed with battery life, beam pattern and waterproofness.

I've ordered one of these:

http://www.dealextreme.com/p/ultrafire-p10-r5-cree-xr-g-r5-5-mode-350-lumen-memory-led-flashlight-1-18650-904442972

1/10th the price of my P4 Joystick and brighter! Will fit in the Joystick holder too.

@stevemorg2 - What lumen is that torch and what is the run time like? Also, please forgive my lack of knowledge, what is the difference between XPG and XML?

@Del - I think you're right, i can use my current light as a helmet light by itself just to see me through until i get a torch. Hope you're ok by the way, i heard you're off the bike for a few months?

Just ordered this, thanks for the link stevemorg2:> http://www.cnqualitygoods.com/goods.php?id=1060

Can someone now point me in the direction of the correct joystick helmet mount, or any other recommended good helmet mount, cheers.

There is a cheap Exposure Joystick (Mk4) on USE factory outlet I was tempted by?

But I am going to wait for the MK6 as it has 325 lumens 🙂

I picked my joystick mount from my LBS - any Exposure dealer should have them and I think Wiggle do them - I think they are @£18 which sounds a lot but they are excellent and work really well with the Yezl

Numpty question alert...

Looking at that Yetzl, it seems they like most of the DX lights uses 18650 batteries. Are you restricted to them and can you charge them with a decent quality aa charger (technoline BL700)??

you'll need the specific charger to suit li-ion cells, sorry. the guys who're selling the torch, or alternatively dealextreme will supply.
