charged up battery this afternoon, no issues.

getting ready to go for a ride this evening, plug the battery to the light unit, turn it on, the light comes on for a about a somethingth of a second and *phut*, it goes off again.

and wont come back on.

have taken the front housing off and all the soldering points look ok.

so, come on tech-ies, help me out!

Most probably the connector in the cable. Seriously fragile.

#Edit:
Any sparks or bangs or just dead?

Anything happen if you jiggle the cable? Can you try a different battery.

its usually the battery on the orignals......
assuming you checked the main light unit for swarf when you bought it (this was also a big issue if you bought direct from HK)

battery has most likely got a bit of water in and corroded the circuit board
that is the main weakness

could be owt though

Does it actually make a noise? That's not a good sign if it does...

Don't have a solution but if it's the P7 version and it's dead, I'd be interested to take the remains off you, I've got some use for the parts.

When's your trip? I did an iffy warranty claim on a torch- admitted to dropping it down some stairs, and said "I've done this with my maglite loads of times, your glass lens is too weak" which frankly I expected nothing from, and got a replacement in the post about 10 days later. Was very surprised.
