I accidentaly unscrewed what i presumed was the top cap, but now cant get it back on, looks more like the cap form the top of suspension fork uppers (which is it realy).
It's stilling about 10mm above the top of the steerer and I cant get it down enough to start screwing it back on.
help?

Has the fork dropped slightly?

dunno, brute force and ignorance just got it back in though.
Going to strip them and service them soonish as the boot needs replacing and they dont feel particularly well damped.
