Landed a small jump at Llandegla last night and my heckler emitted a very loud crack noise, consistent with my previous experience of a swing arm breaking in the area around the seat tube.
But when I got off and inspected everything (including swing arm pinch bolts), no sign of any problems and it rode ok for the rest of the evening, including going off the 3-ish foot drops on the new freeride area.
Should I be concerned?
shock bottoming out
Had the same noise with my rear shock bottoming out. Check the bolts that mount the shocks and just replace if bent.
could have been chain slap
Check bolts bearings and bushings, my etsx carbon swingarm was producing a terrifying crack under heavy compression, turned out to be a shock bolt not quite tight enough.
A friends Marin made a loud CRACK noise when he hopped off a kerb once. One of the linkage bolts had snapped!
Have you checked the drop out bolts? Don't know whay year yours is but pre 2007 it may be that?
