Had to look at that for a few seconds to figure out what was wrong!

That'll teach you to look after your bike.. But wait.. SS never need any attention, do they?

How on earth do you get three bolts to fail together?

They were cheap chainring bolts.
One failed at the start of the ride then the other 2 sheared whilst putting down power on a slope! The chainring has actually split around the chainring bolt hole too!

You are lucky you didn't break off any of the arms on the crank. I've seen carbon road cranks destroyed in minutes when a couple of the bolts come out. That would definitely have upset your evening.

Raw power!

There's these new cranks out now that have two or even three rings on them, I personally couldn't see the point of them, until I saw this thread.

I had my rear QR let go on me today whilst whizzing down a long, steep hill in heavy traffic (on my road SS). The rear brake went a bit odd, immediately followed by a lot of buzzing from the back end (oo'er missus), and when I'd pulled in for a look, I found that the rear tyre had already started to mark the inside of the NDS chain-stay. Luckily the chain-tug kept it all together.

@ Realman - is that Victoria Pendleton in your picture?

Bugger, I laughed at this this morning and thus the ineffable laws of schadenfreude ensured that the knock to my bash right at the end of last night's ride sheared off two of my crank bolts and as soon as I put some power down tonight the remaining bolts exploded off and my chainring turned into a pringle.

Damn you karma, you win this time.
