I'm watching this Heckler frame on Ebay. I haven't placed a bid yet, but the size is right for me. Can anyone tell me what year this might be from these images alone, and also what that shock is? I've asked the question to the guy who's listed it, but there isn't long to go so I might not get a response in time.

I must say I'm a bit suspicious of the limited description, but I'm waiting for responses to my questions before casting judgement.

He lists it as 2006, it strikes me as a little older. They had less travel years back too.

The Santa Cruz forum on MTBR has Heckler galleries, by year:

Looks like a Fox Float RL shock to me, difficult to tell from those pics though so I wouldn't take that as fact!

That's a very old one looks like my 98. 100% not a 2006.

I don't think the 1998 had sweeping top tubes.

It's possible that someone has matched different year front and rear?.

Bearing in mind that a 06 Heckler frame can be had for as little as £300 I'd pass.

Looks like the front of my 2nd gen '02 and rear of my 1st gen '98!!

EDIT: Rickon's right it's def Superlight front 'cos the pivot bolts on Hecklers go through the downtube.

Thinking about it, it does look a bit like my old Superlight! Nice bike, but I'd be moving over my 140mm forks so a bit much for a superlight!!!

I'll say again..... it's a Superlight, 2001 probably.

Check out the head angle using his 100mm Fox F100s from his Rock Springs...

Swing arm is as per my 2002 superlight, defo not a heckler (i have a 2006 frame), and FWIW as said up there ^^^ already asking to much for a frame of that vintage.

£100 too much for a frame like that? I doubt it. Of course, this is an auction, so people will pay what they feel it is worth to them.

I'd swerve it, it's an old frame and for a little more you could get something better.

It was just a whim really. I occasionally look over Ebay to see if anyone is trying to sell my stolen XL Nomad, and I saw this, and thought I might like to rebuild a SC bike at some point.

My guess is its stolen or the seller would list it accurately.

Not sure about jumping to conclusions that it's stolen kit - looking at the seller's feedback he seems to BUY and sell bits and pieces of mountain bikes, so maybe legit (or at least, he bought it legit, doesn't mean it wasn't previously stolen of course).
