Looking for some knee length socks for MTBing struggle to keep warm this time of year . Strangely most rides start either with cold hands or feet then half way round they swap places 🤔 Are those Heatholders just a gimmick or do they actually work? Or would I be better off looking at places like Mole Valley Farmers or Hoggs of Fife who sell to gamekeepers etc ?

I’ve found knee length Gore socks but they are a bit pricey 😳

Decathlon ski socks. Seems people who play in the snow for hours at a time like warm feet. 🤷‍♂️

i wear them in the house to keep my fused foot warm, but they are a bit pony on the bike.

dont laugh but i wear ( on my fused foot ) a knee length thick 100 denier womans tight offcut. topped off with a kneelength pair of HJ HALL wool socks. perfect.

Saw the title and immediately thought it was about some rider branded socks. Spent a few seconds wondering who Heath Older is until the penny dropped.

Similar principle, but knee length thick Sealskinz. Only thing that keep my feet warm. And if water does eventually get in, they still keep you pretty warm.

Proven by Penmachno in October.

Have you tried getting a bigger sized shoe to wear with these?

I bought a couple of pairs of heat holder socks a number of years ago and ive still got the one pair, though they've long worn through at the heel. Heavy fleece lining, and when you initially put them on you'll think its heaven for toesies.

They are pretty thick so beware if you've tight shoes/boots, and I'd recommend the long calf length as opposed to the ankle length that i found slipped down a lot.

Worth the money I'd say.

I have a few pairs but for around the house, they're mostly not great for riding- too open so moving air goes straight through them.

Yep. For out and out warmth you can’t beat them. They do 3 thickness’s. The thickest are obviously the warmest (ace for around the house and in boots or wellies) for the bike I have the ultra lite. They are all tog tested to give you an idea of warmth/scale. They do some merino and some waterproof versions too. They seem like a mid market brand and so are reasonably priced. No doubt not as hard wearing as dedicated hiking socks but I don’t think they are exactly aimed at that. We also have their hats (which have furry lining). Oh we also have there blankets for around the house which are huge! I think they are a British brand but have links with Canada
