sent some forks off for a service. Forks were condemned and binned.
Afterwards realised that some parts of the bottom portion headset were still attached to the steerer...
This is what i've got left.
The top is complete.

So, other than brains am i just missing a bottom bearing and a split ring(like the top) ?
Are there more parts?
Does the bottom have a split ring?
If the same as the top then i guess the bearing needs to be fitted onto the split ring and the whole thing pushed/forced down onto the steerer with a tool/scaffold pipe etc, any tips.
All help for what i know is a pretty basic question appreciated..
Only the crown race gets fitted to the forks. The bearings sit on top. There is also a seal (thin, plastic) which holds the bottom bearing in the lower cup and trys to keep it clean.
ah cheers.
Anyway it might be academic if i can't find a replacement bearing/race...
Try contacting FSA (or their European operation). I contacted them about buying some replacement caps for some of their self-extracting crank bolts I had, and the sent me a complete set of bolts free.
thanks, just emailed them been trying to find the parts i need from their PDF manual and work out the difference between compression covers and crown races. both are split and look the same..
