[Closed] headset o-rings, from where?

I took my forks out of my bike the other day and one of the o-rings that seals my headset fell apart, perished or worn I guess. Hope headset, so I just rang Hope to ask for a new 0-ring. Have done this in the past and found Hope to be superb, customer (me) needs a little part for a headset or brake or whatever and they've popped it in an envelope and posted it to me. Prompt and even free of charge. This time however I was told I had to go through a bike shop, they wouldn't deal with me direct. Oh well fair enough. I popped to LBS at lunch time and have asked them to enquire. Only problem is I now suspect that LBS ordering, postage etc. is going to lead to an o-ring that ought to cost a few pence will end up costing several pounds. If it does I'll be frustrated.

I can probably find a web based o-ring merchant and order something suitable.....but will probably end up with a pack of 100 or something daft.

Just wondered if anyone has found a suitable o-ring before, the one I need is part 9 or 10 on the exploded diagram, fits around the crown race, headset is the 1 and 1/8th variety. Any ideas for sourcing one for a few pence?

Hope do seem to have got some particularly "helpful" staff recently!

Try a motor factors or halfords?

Is this thing with Hope that you are not supposed to order spares from them direct, but they will do repairs / warranty direct if you ask them- so it depends on who answers the phone and the mood they are in whether they deem it to be a spares order thus needs to go thru LBS or a repair / warranty issue in which case you can deal direct?
