I've just started experiencing severe brake rub. I've tried loosening the caliper, holding in the brake lever and tightening everything back up but I can't get it centred. The disc and wheel seem true, any ideas?

Cheers

Probably sticky pistons, fairly common problem with them as far as I understand.

I cleaned and serviced the calipers which helped a bit, but it was actually the piston in the lever body which was the problem. Bought a kit from chain reaction, think it was even called the sticky lever kit, and quickly sorted the problem.

No problems since(touch wood 😉 )

Could be - the outside piston needed a bit of persuasion to retract and it doesn't still doesn't seem to retract as well as the inside one. Thanks!

Hi, I have the Hayes trail brakes and suffered minor rub. Bought a Hayes brake alignment tool from CRC, £12 though but might help. Sorted my issue but I didn't have a major fault.
