With the enduro season nearly on us, I'm looking for a new decent front light. I came across the Hawking 900 lumen . This seems like alot of light for £84.99. Sounds a bit too good to be true, so has anybody on here got one. Any good?

Yup. As I thought. The self same light is £50 from Deal Extreme.

They are cheap and cheerful. Plenty if light, decent run times, reasonable quality

The battery needs sealing up properly and something better to attach it to the frame like a big Velcro strap

DX have released a few better versions: one with a better battery, one with a different head unit and one with 2 extra LEDs that looks like it has Mickey Mouse ears. All will probably be cheaper than that one.

🙂

+1 to PP's comments

Though if you going to order from DX @ the moment, I'd be looking at these new ones, with the newer XML LED's:

Just be-aware order from the Far east can take a while to get here, it used to be that I'd get DX order in 10 working days but my last one has taken nearly 8 weeks (just mounts, no new lights)

Otherwise also look into the fireball & foride lights, as they are the newer unit's, this is also what spokeshirts are selling. Though as per DX, there cheaper from the far east, though you have to wait a while longer for that cheapness. Available from http://www.lightandgo.com/

Otherwise if you convinced by the 'original' you can buy it from the UK, so you get them quicker and have a UK warrenty, but you pay a premium for those options:
http://www.magicshinebikelights.co.uk/magicshine-mj-808-900-lumen-bike-light-set.php?it=1&ca=1
There selling this off cheaper than normal as it has the 'old' style battery, they also have the new battery, mickey mouse and later head units for sale.

No better/no worse but deserves a link (a different housing but basically the same unit): http://www.surfsidebikes.com/www.surfsidebikes.com/BikeRay_II_SSC_P7_LED_Light.html

Finally if you need convincing that these are a main stream option.. Merlin selling them for way more than everyone else (well except MagicshineUK [normally])
