So I need to leave my car in Hereford for a few hours this Friday so thought I would throw in the bike and head over to Haugh Woods. I have heard there is quite a bit of stuff to do there but obviously don't want to spent hours searching for the elusive Eldorado!> If anyone knows the wooods and could point me in the right direction I would be v grateful. Even the names of some good strava segments will suffice. I can find my way from that.
Cheers

Hi Welshfarmer,
I know Haugh reasonable well, first off its going to be fairly muddy at the moment, but you could still have a bit of fun up there.
I'll email you over some gpx files.
What kind of time you thinking about on friday?
I maybe able to show you around?
Martin
Hi Martin. Thanks for the kind offer. I need to drop the Car off on the Roman Rd about 10 so could be over the woods about 10.30/45 ish if that works. Otherwise I am sure I can string a good ride together from a gpx. Don't mind mud (was out on the Blacks last night!) but obviously the drier the better. Shame it looks like a fair bit of rain tomorrow as it is drying nicely here at the mo.
Cheers
Mark
Our office is about 5 minutes away so head over if I've get change. Some bits are a bit boggy at the moment but still plenty of ridable stuff. It has been drying up quite nicely but tomorrow and Friday both look wet unfortunately.
How much time have you got to waste? Could be tempted to chuck the bike in the car for a bit of a skive...
Sounds doable... I'll have a word with the powers that be and get back to you..
Shaping up for an STW ride. Let's see how bad the rain is tomorrow and make a call then on meeting place and time. ๐

Carpark at the top of the hill is our usual spot though if you're riding from Hereford might be a bit of a mission!
Mart, there's a nice new bit to ride just off the old motorbike trail with the rooty section in the middle that runs between the u shaped fire road towards the bottom by the stream. From the top of it Turn off right after about 30m and you'll see the new trail. It needs a bit or riding bit the bottom part is really nice.
If you're riding from Roman Road to Haugh Woods then it's about 10 miles with a proper hill up to the top of Haugh Woods.
At least you'll be warmed up!
** Hereford local, and the Woods will be a gloop fest after tomorrow's rain.
I think I know where you mean Adam... Fancy joining in?
Yes it is going to be a mess but I've got the day off and I'm supposed to be doing housework !
I would suggest meeting at the moon inn mordiford and winding our way up to the top.
Mordiford looks a better option than the top of the hill ๐
Guys, I have been struck low with terminal Manflu ๐ Didn't think I would ever see daylight again this morning, but here I am. Will see how the day progresses but with a heavy heart I think I have to make a prudent call and slack off tomorrow. If anyone wants to PM me their mobile number maybe we can make a spur of the moment call in the morning if things improve this evening. Was really looking forward to this too.
That's a shame, weather hasn't actually been as bad as forecast - though I'd imagine it's still going to be muddy as owt in there.
Will chuck my bike on the car regardless, can always slope off to the Malverns on the way home if no one makes it.
Well check this post tomorrow am and if I have a miraculous recovery I will let you know and I will stick the bike in and get out there.
Will do - no idea how to send a PM sorry!
Hey guys would love top see a map I get down there now and again would love to know the local trails round the wood.
Used to work on the Stoke Edith Estate in that neck of the woods ๐
I have a map I've marked pretty much all the trails on when trying to figure out my way around the place, don't have it on this machine but will try to remember to upload it tomorrow.
Shhhhhhhh........... It's all a bit cheeky and not authorised by the FC.
Noted. Wont make it public but if anyone wants some pointers...
Am keen for any pointers James, email in profile I think.....
