Anyone know what's good right now for around £500? Asking for a friend (no, really) who wants something decent, reliable and fun to ride. He's no mountain biker but I'm guessing he might end up riding in Dalby or on trails like those - nothing too technical, but he might as well have a proper bike to grow into, just in case he gets the bug. Ta for any tips.

*I work for WiggleCRC, so I've posted a link showing someone else thinks it's a great bike. There's also a 29er version for £500

Halfords have 15% off if you trade in any old bike.

Any ex-rental bikes coming up locally? Some good bargains to be had there.
