Thinking of putting a hook up in my shed from the roof to hang my bike from is there anythings i should know ie air forks(rebas)is it ok to hang bikes up with them and front wheel/back wheel which is best??
I found out that hanging my bike with RC40s by the front wheel (so the bike's vertical, front wheel up) meant that the forks pissed oil out of the top of the fork... Not a problem with any of my other bikes though and it's probably potentially good as it means oil gets to the top seals/wipers/foam.
I should probably point out that all my forks rest on their back wheel though forks should be easily strong enough that it's not an issue even if they didn't
All of my bikes hang by the front wheel, never had any issues. I have hard of the occasional issue with hydraulic brakes if hung upside down as any air migrates to the caliper (of course, this would be less of an issue with properly serviced barkes...)
Hook mine over a roof girder with the saddle. No issues to report apart from banging my head now & again.
I hang my bike up, does seem to make the front brake go a bit squidgy but nothing too drastic - don't pull the lever when the bike is vertical!
Pikes don't like being hung like that. Dunno about Rebas.
Hung revs up upside down w/o probs.
Interesting - I have Pikes on my bike that I hang up. In what way do they not like it? Never noticed a problem with mine.
Funny, I run three bikes with Fox forks and part of the reason I'm planning to hang them is because it will gte oil to the top bush. As for the brakes, a bit of old inner tube to pull the lever to the grip will make it a closed system and stop air from the reservior going anywhere.
I hang one of my bikes, using one of those brackets that you can get the whole top tube over so the bike is like being on the ground but up in the air
i hang bikes alternating front and back wheels. never noticed any issues
